This co-op map for Desert Combat is meant for 1 or 2 players playing as the Coalition forces. The bots in this map even man gunfire from choppers flying over the city, making this an enjoyable co-op experience.

I took out the Stryker because it causes lag lag lag.
I also added code so the map can be played in all the DC
mods. (DC, DCF, DCR, DCX)

Version 1.001

- Reduced the number of soldier spawns and spawn groups to
prevent a major crash when clients join to the server.

- Fixed a scaling problem with a wooden crate that can
cause players to jump really high.
- Network code added to some vehicles.
- Replaced wooden bridges with a new custom metal one.
- Fixed typo in init.com
- Map should now appear in singleplayer mode (untested!)
- Slight change in the briefing screen text.
- Fixed typo in SoldierSpawns.con
- The (russian) warehouse is scaled back to its original
size
- Altered Helicopter AI slightly.

Unfixed bugs and issues:
- Some static objects that have been scaled up/down causes
weird physics and changes the size of any dropped weapons.
- Roads and Sidewalks do not have collision, so players may
appear to sink slightly underneath them.
- Some Desert Combat vehicles do not have proper AI and may
cause the game to crash if the bots get close to them.

About:
======

A running street battle set in a fictional, modern town
somewhere in the Middle-East.

During a routine patrol of a supposedly quiet neighborhood,
you come under surprise attack from well-armed opposition.
As it is a civilian area, armor cannot be brought in until
you come under heavy fire. With your humvees destroyed, you
must retreat to the southern edges of the city, or try and
hold out until the reinforcements arrive.

- This map is for Desert Combat version 0.6
- Primarily a CO-OP map and should be played with 1-2
players as the COALITION forces.
- The UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters have been modified (they
are a lot slower) to stop the bots taking them in to the
stratosphere. Although you can spawn inside the Blackhawks,
they should only be piloted by the bots.
- If it is running slowly, you will need to turn down the
number of bots.


Installation:
=============
Unzip the map to your Desert Combat levels folder:
e.g. C:GamesBattlefield
1942ModsDesertCombatArchivesbf1942levels


Uninstallation:
===============
Manually delete all the files starting with 'DC_Ambush_...'
from the levels folder.


Settings:
=========

I have an old 1GHz Pentium with a Radeon 9000 video card.
My usual settings for this map are:

- 24 bots
- bot ratio of 4 Opposition : 3 Coalition
- 25% CPU on AI
- Medium graphics setting
- 800*600 16-bit resolution
- Low sound setting

It's not pretty, but it is playable.


Bugs & Issues:
==============
- Some crashes to desktop. If you are getting this, try
turning off SHADOWS in the graphical settings. Apologies if
you are getting this :( I'm not sure what is causing it as
the crashes appear to be random.
- If you play with many bots, expect major SLOWDOWN
especially near Checkpoint Delta.
- Bots may get stuck in places.
- Bots in the Blackhawks do not fire the miniguns (I think
they have a narrow FOV so will not shoot unless the enemy
are straight in front of them!).
- The bots in the blackhawks seem to have massive turning
circles, they tend to take the helicopters off the map.
- Some objects do not have proper collision (e.g.
sidewalks, wooden bridges, park benches).
