If you keep an eye on 1up.com (which I must say, I don't... I just spotted this on it,) you might see that they reported on the mysterious appearance of some rather strange Spore expansions on Amazon, which then, just as mysteriously disappeared again.
I've seen this happen before (remember Oblivion PSP? I nearly ordered that!), and what generally happens next is that nothing is said about the item in question, and everybody feels slightly sad. Unless it's the latest expansion for Rubber Duck Volleyball, in which case everyone throws a party.
But wait, I hear you cry. Supposing you don't keep an eye on 1up.com (Which I don't... I'd just like to remind you), you'll be wondering what these expansions were... and they were Sims style packs. You know! Sims furniture, Sims Makin' Magic, Sims Ikea, Sims go Gambling, Sims Join a Mafia Cartel, that kind of malarky. The stuff you buy, play with for a couple of days, and then wonder suddenly where £50 has gone.
They offered 'Cute Stuff', and 'Creepy Stuff', more than 100 parts which you could add to your creature base to make them respectively more cute and/or more creepy. It was simple. And it will be simple. Because on Monday, EA confirmed that they will both become available on November 18th, just in time for the Christmas Market. And you know what? I think that's a little disappointing. Not the perfect compliment to the masterpiece of a game we've seen so far.
But wait once more!
For another pack has been announced... a little more vaguely, I'll grant you that, but it's been announced none the less. And this time, I'll cut straight to the chase. This, more exciting expansion will be based around the space stage, and will give players the ability to beam their creatures down onto other planets, to do a little old fashioned colonisation and exploitation of the natives, which will be good.

Not, I hasten to add, the exploitation part. I don't endorse that. I meant the expansion as a whole.
The second part of the expansion will allow players to create 'missions', which could then be uploaded for other players to try, much like creatures, buildings, and machines. (Presumably with new exciting creepy/cute tentacles, fluff, and waggly bits.)
These are set to hit stores in Spring 2009, and is as yet, untitled. Any ideas, anyone?
A Nod to 1up.com1up.com for the story. I've just taken the news, churned it around, and spat it out differently
