Yes it's true, here's a few interesting cross-over facts from WoW that seem all too familiar in the real world:

In real life your boss can kite you from your home to the office where there are hundreds of mobs to fight through.
- In WoW there are mobs everywhere and most of them drop useless gray vendor trash.
In real life there are Project Managers everywhere and most of them drop useless tasks.
- In WoW you can be a mighty guild leader.
In real life you can be a wimpy CEO.
- In WoW when you want to quit a guild you simply type /gquit.
In real life when you want to quit your company you hand in your /letter_of_resignation.
- In WoW you can spam /general chat until somebody reports you, this is known as a penchant for asshattery.
In real life no one would dare to spam /general chat, unless they have a penchant for bruisery (and frankly IRL nobody cares about your opinion anyway).
- In WoW you can harass other players until a GameMaster steps in.
In real life you can harass other people until a Policeman steps in.
- In WoW you can block other players from communicating with you.
In real life you can file a court order of restraint that blocks people from communicating with you.
- In WoW it takes months of trust to work your way up the Guild ladder.
In real life it takes you years of trust to work your way up the corporate ladder (..or overnight if your name is Cindy from Vegas).
- In WoW you start out at lvl1 and work your way up to lvl70, the level cap will raise with the release of new expansion packs.
In real life you start out at age1 and work your way up to age70, the age cap will increase with the release of new life extending drugs.

- In WoW you must submit an application to join a guild, your chances are slim if it's a top 50 guild.
In real life you must submit a resume to join a company, your chances are slim if it's a Fortune 500 company.
- In WoW your wife will pwn you if you spend too much time in game.
In real life your wife will pwn you if you spend too much time at work.
- In WoW when you commit a crime you are banned from the server.
In real life when you commit a crime you are banned from society...and sent to jail with big bubba who goes by the name of Skidmarks and who also happens to be a lvl70 Tauren Warrior and loves to roleplay late at night.
