So, I thought I'd take some time and write a quick review of the games I've played. More specifically, my first series of reviews will focus on the MMORPGS that I have played. First up, World of Warcraft of course.
Let me start this review by saying, I'm not a writer, so I'm going to give you this review as if we were talking in person. Are you ready? Here goes...
As a former longtime World of Warcraft player (a level 70 Mage named Gnomie for those who must know), I can safely say that WOW is a great game. It's deep, entertaining, the graphics are nice, there's tons of gear, the playerbase is huge, and overall and pretty easy to pickup. My favorite part of the game was the PVP, if you like that sort of combat there is plenty to do. You can world pvp, small team arena pvp, and large team battleground pvp. I would add here that if you call yourself a "pvper" but don't actually world pvp, then you're just a scared wiener with no spine. All the pvp is fun, but for me nothing beats the excitement of world pvp, the only drawback is that you don't typically get gear/eq for world pvp the way you do in arena and battlegrounds. Quest and small instances are also a blast, and there is nothing more fun than doing them while chatting with your friends on vent/skype/other chat program (by friends I mean real life friends, not the kind that gave you a sweet offhand dagger in Azeroth and because of his Energy Drink/Whiskey intake, might start screaming so loud he'll bust your head phones friend). The game sounds great doesn't it? It is, it's totally fun, but here's the drawback...
The biggest problem with wow is the commitment. To benefit from and enjoy end-game content, as a player you need to be able to commit to a guild, and any serious guild is going to require you to rearrange your entire life schedule so that you can be able to run instances with them on MWFS, from 6pm-Midnight. If you can't no worries, you'll get the, It's ok. We can still be friends, and if you ever need anything in game just ask... routine. The other problem I have with wow is the economy. This is also a commitment issue because, thanks to farmers, gold sellers, and a bunch of people who speak a different language than youyou now have to spend TThSu nights killing the same elemental over and over and over and over and over and over again to get items you need to craft your new robe.
So the game has pros, and the game has cons... what else is new? I quit because all that commitment is a ball buster. Plenty of people play so, buy it, try it, loose your soul in it, I don't really care.
