It has been my long held belief their are people who look just to make controversy for their own intentions (maybe a little more attention to their blog?). Well I am not saying anything about feminists or their struggle but I am commenting on the fact that the whole situation seems terribly contrived to me. For those of you who don't know, Fat Princess is an upcoming CTF like game where the object is to invade an enemies castle in order to rescue your princess, the catch however, is that the enemies continually feed your princess so she gets fatter and fatter and thus tougher to carry out of the castle and back to yours. This is where a controversy begins as a female blogger decides to take offense to this game and start saying things like how they applaud SONY for creating another generation of kids who hate fat people.

This is generally where I went WTF???

I am sorry but I really cannot appreciate what I feel is basically a bid for attention. We all know there are "hot-words" of sorts that almost guarantee attention by the public at large, and feminist and sexist are very much a part of that list. This part of the game like all others is meant to be cartoony and humorous in a dark kind of way. The game is surprisingly gory, no one comments on that? Oh wait, there's a girl being force fed until she is huge in the pursuit of disadvantaging their enemies. That somehow seems to offend some where it amuses the populace at large.

I would like to further mention that I am saying nothing about feminists or any other woman's rights associations. I am however commenting on how I believe Feminist Gamer's "Mighty Ponygirl" and writer Melissa McEwan have taken their opportunity to gain a little bit of the limelight by making a ridiculous claim out of nothing. Fat Princess is trying to amuse with a dark sense of humor that has gone unnoticed due to a ridiculous plea for attention.

I hereby declare this to be the most ridiculous controversy to have crossed my mind in quite some time and you all know that I rarely write an angry post. This however, takes the cake.

I hope for better from gamer blogs in the future as this is just plain disappointing.

I have to agree with you -- while I have nothing against feminists and their own struggles, the fat princess idea is almost laughable -- in fact, almost aimed at children: the gore levels, however, are not...so, yes, where is the controversy for the blood going -- is this the beggining to the next attack on the games industry -- how large people are? In fact, I don't see how the game "teaches", young children (who would ever give this game to their children with violence like this) to HATE fat people -- seriously; WTF...agreed...
