Max Payne 1 -- The character Max Payne was modeled after the writer.
Max Payne 2 -- The character was modeled after a real actor as were the other characters in the game. Max Payne's female love interest in the game was also modeled after a real woman. Sorry i don't recall the games.

I remember when Max Payne 2 came out alot of people didn't like that they changed what Max looked like.

Well, unfortunately, there is NO picture of Sami Jarvi anywhere to be found...

However, in Max Payne 2, they modeled Max Payne off the actor Timothy Gibbs; here's a picture:
